Do i need to go the gym to keep fit?

Being in the 21st century, most of us find ourselves working in service sector professions. Working in an office, maybe behind the till as a cashier. Especially with the growing advancement of technology, social media and the technology behind it, demands more people to work to sustain the growing rate of it’s success.

The bottom line, more of us are moving less.

So how do we keep yourselves healthy? We got to do it somehow? Eating complimentary doughnuts all ready everyday in the office and coming home to a quick takeaway before bed week to week, is a recipe for disaster. So we got to balance our work life with exercise to maintain our bodies health.

“So are you saying i need to go to the gym?”

This is the first question that comes to everyone’s mind when they think of getting fit. I’m here to say that the gym is not the only option.

The purpose of the gym is to have a place to workout. This is especially useful for people who know they will feel quite unmotivated to workout. As going to a place to workout, surrounded by other strangers working out with you builds an unconscious sense of motivation. Almost a sense of “stranger peer pressure” as you feel the need to workout just like everyone else, so you don’t feel left out.

However that doesn’t mean the gym is the only answer. Relying on stranger peer pressure for motivation is not the answer for everyone. Especially those who can’t factor in the travel time to and from the gum weekly into their schedule. Or those who just can’t afford it.

For people who struggle to find that free time try looking towards calisthenics workouts, or “free body weight” workouts.

These are workout plans that do not involve weight or equipment, only your own body weight. Such exercises as push ups, squats and sit ups. Find what your goal is in keep fit - better endurance? A more muscular body? Just keeping healthy?

and mould your exercises towards your workout plans to come.

I will post later on suggestions on exercises to use. Exercise that i use to keep fit and what has worked for me in my experiences.

Keep fit and have fun!
